A typical aircraft tyre and brake test machine takes the form of a central steel drum driven by an electrical drive on each side of which is located a hydraulically operated loading mechanism. The central drum, usually about 3 metres in diameter, acts as a simulated runway surface and can be rotated up to speeds in the region of 800 kph. Test machines supplied by Exign Technology can be designed to apply yaw and camber angle characteristics to simulate aircraft landing/take-off conditions, apply loads to cater for todays large aircraft and to accurately measure all forces and moments experienced by the tyre/wheel/brake assembly. |
