| The
working life of an existing test facility may be extended
by refurbishment or upgrade of, for example, mechanical,
hydraulic, instrumentation and computer systems, while at
the same time improving reliability, operating range and
performance. For a fraction of the cost of supplying a
new facility, Exign Technology can undertake a
refurbishment/upgrade program to help its customers
achieve a substantial increase in the utilisation of test
equipment. An important consideration in such projects is
keeping the facility down-time to a minimum during
refurbishment Exign project management
gives a cost-effective solution. Exign Technology have recently completed a two year major overhaul of a large aircraft tyre and brake test machine in Tokyo. The project was finished on schedule and on budget in 2001, and since |
then the customer has been using the upgraded machine daily. It has provided them with a substantially increased load capacity for large aircraft tyre testing, a new wider road-wheel to accommodate the large tyres, a replacement control and data acquisition computer system, new PLC, new control desk, hydraulically applied inertia elements, new hydraulic servo-control systems and a sophisticated On-Machine Force Measurement System calibration facility. The project was managed by Exign Technology, with close liaison with the customer through-out the programme. |
