Engine Test Cell Technology

Aero-engine testing is performed for the design and development of new engine types, for endurance testing of prototypes and for pass-off testing of new production or overhauled units

Compared to testing on the wing or in-flight, the testing engines in a dedicated cell has a number of advantages :-

The noise nuisance can be limited by suitable acoustic treatment.
The correct aerodynamic conditions can be maintained and measured accurately.
Suitable working conditions for the test staff can be maintained 24 hours per day.
The high-accuracy measurement systems can be maintained in an indoor environment.
Test cells range in size from small cabins designed to measure the driveshaft output of auxiliary power units to giant facilities designed to measure the thrust of the largest civil jets.

Exign Technology has extensive knowledge of the key factors in aero-engine test cell design and applies this experience to both new-build and upgrade projects.
