test stands range from simple units, dedicated to
one engine type, to complex multi-purpose
facilities. Testing may be confined to idling the
engine to confirm that it will operate and that
no fluid leaks occur, or, at the other extreme, a
whole range of tests may be required, including
thrust or power output, fuel consumption and
endurance. The
illustration shows a typical stand designed by
Exign Technology for a range of small jet
engines.

This particular stand incorporates a
load-cell for thrust measurement and is supported
on a resiliently-mounted frame to reduce the
transmission of noise and vibration to adjacent
areas. Exign
